* Lt. Mingo Logothetis
There is much conflicting information regarding Lt. Mingo Logothetis’ aerial credits. USAF Study No 85 "USAF Credits for the Destruction of Enemy Aircraft" credits Mingo with one aerial victory. Mr. Tom Ives book "Patton's Eyes in the Sky" gives Mingo 4 victories and 3 probable. The Squadron's Monthly History in April 1945 seems corroborates this by mentioning Mingo shot down four enemy aircraft. Additionally, a document marked "Restricted" in the Lt. Elmer T. Olsen Collection titled "10th Reconnaissance Group Claims in the ETO" lists Lt. Logothetis as an ace with 6.5 victories. Is Lt. Logothetis the 12’s only ace? At this time, results are inconclusive. It is almost certain, however, Lt. Logothetis brought down more than one enemy aircraft as he was an accomplished pilot known throughout the squadron for his aggressiveness. Additional research may one day bring clarity to Lt. Logothetis’ accomplishments.
