Update: A Memorial, Document Decryption & More Site Building

We are rapidly approaching the 100th anniversary of the World War I Armistice this November. The great folks at Over the Front have been leading the effort to complete a monument honoring WWI airmen at the National Museum of the Air Force this September. If you are interested in the project, please go to their website. They are accepting donations.

Transcription of the Wilbur D. Kennedy Letters continues. To date, thirty-four letters have been transcribed with about fifty more to go. Transcription of the Wistar Morris letters has bogged down quite a bit due to poor reproduction quality of some of the letters, see example below. This sometimes requires extensive effort to piece together individual letters and words using character comparison. The 1st image is one of the Morris letter. The second is the character analysis chart used to help decipher some of the letters.

Website building continues: We've added a couple new sites to the "Links" page as well as several articles to the "Stories" section of the TwelfthRecon. Mr. Jerry Olson's article describing his father's experiences with the 12th during World War II can be found here under the WW lII section.

Lastly, if any of you are going to be in the D.C. area and feel like a trip to the National Air and Space Museum Archives, please let me know. I could use your help looking into the Capt Burdette Wright Collection.
